ECOSOC

Another milestone in the history of DaN Basel – official recognition by the UN as a member NGO with official special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council – ECOSOC.

Thanks to our long-standing commitment in areas consistent with the UN's SDGs, ‘Zero Hunger’, ‘No Poverty’, ‘Reduced Inequalities’ and ‘Responsible Consumption and Production’, our experience with refugees and our efforts in intercultural mediation, we have been honoured with ECOSOC status and can now contribute our experience to the important meetings of the Economic and Social Council.

In addition, we are able to organise our own meetings and speak about the taboo subject of ‘poverty even in rich countries’, such as Switzerland, and thereby raise awareness of it.

We hope that this will give us even better opportunities to improve the living conditions of the people affected.
