DaN Basel at the UN

DaN participates in a peace conference

In today's political situation, with conflict and ever-new challenges, religion should not be the reason for this. Rather, cultural synthesis and religious diversity should be the breeding ground and an opportunity to create something good, such as the DaN project. For all the religions I know of include kindness towards the poor and tolerance for those who think differently. The DaN Basel organization could only come into being and grow into what it is today because of its diverse cultural staff. DaN Basel now successfully supports over 1,000 families, meaning that our assistance reaches over 3,000 people. DaN is supported equally by all through the idea of humanity and helpfulness towards the poor, regardless of their origin or religion.

Since 2019, the president of the DaN Basel organization, Andreas Schaeppi, has regularly participated in humanitarian meetings and given speeches on the topics of poverty in Switzerland and integration.

In addition to distributing over 450 tonnes of food per year, providing weekly clothing donations, helping with administrative procedures, finding accommodation and reintegrating people into working life, we succeed in offering a place where everyone feels treated equally. With kindness and dignity. This enables the peaceful coexistence of all cultures and religions represented.

This leads to many constructive dialogues and cultural exchanges that are rarely found elsewhere. In addition, there is active integration of people from other cultures who now live in Switzerland.
In particular, the volunteers at DaN Basel, who come from different nationalities, give the whole project a new perspective and contribute a great deal to being able to do something good in an interfaith atmosphere and seeing how it benefits everyone, both the staff and our clients.
This shows us that people of all nations and religions, with the important idea of humanity, are capable of doing a lot of good and that it is possible to achieve this transboundary to religions.
In order to pass on our positive ideas, we welcome regular visits from school classes who, as part of their social studies lessons, want to actively experience how kindness and humanity can help people in need.

The conclusion we draw from this is that as long as we carry the ideas of humanity, tolerance and charity in our hearts, many things can be better and offer great opportunities for a common future! At DaN, we are aware that a different culture or religion is no reason to be afraid, but rather an enrichment.
We are well aware that we cannot change the world with our concept, but if more people commit to this idea, it is possible to change things for the better in our immediate environment, and if this spreads, it is also possible that it can have an impact on a larger scale.
What could be more important than humanity, respect and tolerance to enable a cross-cultural life?
