Every Tuesday people queue here. We turn nobody away.

DaN Basel hands out food, runs a clothing boutique and helps where the authorities stop helping. Without red tape, without denomination, without anything expected in return.

Every week we hand out 12 tonnes of food, and around 51,000 bags a year. That makes DaN Basel the largest single project of its kind in Switzerland.

Helping one person might not change the whole world, but it can change the world for that one person.

What we do

Food

Every Tuesday at Birsstrasse 58. Registered recipients from 11.00, guests from 16.00.

Boutique DaN

Clothes, shoes and household goods. Tuesdays, same hours.

Social services

Coming with you to offices, forms, listening. When nobody else is responsible.

Christmas party

A celebration of cultures with the children at its heart. Every December.

Volunteering

Lend a hand on Tuesday or help behind the scenes.

Recognition

What a Basel association has grown into – all the way to the UN in Geneva.

We are responsible for what we do – and also for what we fail to do.

Since 2025 DaN Basel has been recognised as an NGO with special consultative status at the UN Economic and Social Council, speaks in Geneva and has received the Swiss Peace Award. The work stays the same: food on Tuesdays at Birsstrasse 58.
